Japan Day 3 – Harajuku, Shibuya, Ginza
Our third day in Japan had been reserved for exploring the centre and south-west side of Tokyo. We started the day with a train ride to the massive Tokyo Station and made a detour to the Daimaru food basement. Aah, I could cry tears of joy just from looking at all the beautiful (but pricey) cakes and sweets on display. Most of the smaller cakes/sweets/chocolates are individually wrapped and the presentation is absolutely amazing. The long queue at Baumkuchen caught our attention and we were immediately attracted to the oddly shaped cakes. We decided to buy it at another time because we needed to arrange our transportation to Kyoto at the JR ticket office. After everything was sorted, we walked around Marunouchi area including the Imperial Palace.

On board the Singapore Airlines A380
On our recent trip to Japan we had the chance to fly the Singapore Airlines’ latest toy, the new Airbus A380 aircraft which is now fully operational serving Sydney-Singapore route. Personally this is one of the main reason we I really looked forward to the Japan trip. We’ve decided to write a post specifically about this and provide you with helpful tips.

Fancy Zoom
We are no longer using the Lightbox 2 in this blog for images. Instead we are now using Fancy Zoom for showing larger version of an image. This script produces a rather nice and smooth effect.
One thing I miss is the functionality to move to next/previous photos in lightbox. However based on my observations not many people use this functions on this blog nor do we have too many images in one post.
How to use: Click on image to zoom in, and click again to close.
Hidden feature: Shift+click on an image to see a slow-motion zoom.

Video & audio comment now available
If you don’t feel like typing why don’t you use your webcam and post a video comment? It’s now available for all posts.
Don’t have a webcam? don’t worry you can also do audio comment (without the video)
Don’t have a microphone? well.. let your fingers do the typing

Minus 5 degrees
Well that’s what it feels like at the moment. It’s colder in my bedroom, and it’s even worse in the 2nd bedroom (yes, even the carpet is cold! have you ever stepped on cold carpet??). I’m trying hard not to put the heater on….being a green warrior wanna-be *global warming carbon neutral bla bla bla*. I’m also trying hard not to put more weight on. Obviously the thought of home-made-max-brenner-hot-chocolate doesn’t help.
Err…today I’m revising the guest list in anticipation that the invitations will arrive soon in Sydney this week (or I’ll be very, very cross). It’s like doing a jigsaw puzzle. This is just the start…then we’ll have to hand out the invitations and allocate the seats, and who knows what changes could happen between now and D-day.
On a sadder note, my iPod…the one that I thought would last forever…died on Friday nite. I don’t know what happened. I placed the iPod onto the charger dock and suddenly all the music disappeared, and it won’t sync with iTunes either. I’m very depressed and now I have to rely on an 8 gig Nano to keep me entertained at work & during travel. Maybe the Apple man can revive it for me
Or maybe it’s time to get a new one *yeah!*
